A system consisting of multiple agents that make decisions while influencing one another is called a multi-agent system. Swarms of animals, human societies, and autonomous distributed computer systems can be considered examples of such systems. Our laboratory studies multi-agent systems in a broad sense, focusing on elucidating the mechanisms by which order and equilibrium emerge from the behavior of individual agents, as well as their engineering applications.
