Our laboratory welcomes students and postdoctoral fellows (JSPS fellows) interested in research related to multi-agent systems. We are also looking for partners for collaborative research with research institutions and private companies. If you are interested in working with us through any of the following ways, please feel free to contact us (Koji Hasebe) by email.
Our lab belongs to the Master's/Doctoral Program in Computer Science, Degree Programs in Systems and Information Engineering, Graduate School of Science and Technology, University of Tsukuba. To be admitted as a graduate student (for both Master's and Doctoral programs) in the same program, you need to obtain approval from your prospective supervisor before submitting the application for the entrance examination. If you wish to be accepted into our lab, please send the following application documents by email. Based on the information in these documents, we will decide whether or not to accept you.
The degree program in our university offers entrance exams three times a year.
For more detailed information about the entrance exams, please refer to this page.
Our lab actively accepts research fellows under the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) program. If you wish to apply through our lab, please note that applications are processed through the university’s administration. The deadline for application documents is usually mid-April (earlier than the JSPS deadline, so please take care). Since you will need to prepare documents such as a research proposal, please contact us early if you are interested.
Our university offers a "Fast Track Program" for working professionals with a suitable level of research achievements, allowing them to shorten the standard three-year doctoral course (Doctoral program) and obtain a PhD in as little as one year. Under the guidance of faculty members from the Doctoral Program in Computer Science, you will prepare a dissertation while undergoing three evaluations to assess your qualifications and knowledge for obtaining a PhD. (For more details on the Fast Track Program, please refer to this page.) Our lab actively accepts applications for the Fast Track Program. If you are interested, please feel free to contact us.
The College of Information Science holds a general lab assignment briefing in early October each year, followed by individual lab briefings. Our lab also holds several briefings each year (the content is the same each time). If you wish to be assigned to our lab, please be sure to attend one of the briefings. If the number of applicants exceeds the quota, we usually accept students in the order of their GPA.
Our lab's basic policy is to limit the number of enrolled students, and to conduct research in close cooperation with each individual student. In addition to aiming to submit papers to high-level journals and international conferences, we actively welcome motivated students who wish to pursue a PhD and participate in joint research with overseas researchers through Double Degree Program or internships with foreign universities.
For students who wish to pursue graduate school and engage in full-scale research in the future, our advice is to find your research interest as early as possible, study the necessary foundational knowledge on your own, and read research papers to identify your original problem as soon as possible.
In the College of Information Science, students are assigned to a lab in their fourth year, but if you only start looking for your desired topic and studying the basics of the field at that time, you may finish the Master's program before you even start full-fledged research. Especially for those who aspire to obtain a PhD and pursue a research career, it is too late to wait until lab assignment to find your research topic. If you are eager to start research and want to find a theme, and are interested in our lab's research topics, please consider taking the course "(Introductory) Special Exercises in Information Science" now. In this course, you will find a problem on your own and conduct research under the guidance of a supervisor over the course of one year, before being assigned to a lab. If interested, please feel free to contact us.
We have experience in joint research with external research institutions and private companies and are always looking for partners to work together on common research issues. If you are interested in collaborating with us, please feel free to contact us.
Even those outside the lab (including external members) are free to attend seminars and reading groups. If interested, please feel free to contact us.
